Colin Stanton publishes review on stress and anhedonia

September 24, 2018

Colin Stanton, a fourth-year grad student in the ARC Lab, recently had a review paper accepted in the journal Trends in Neurosciences. The review is a collaboration between Colin, Avram Holmes (Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry, Yale), Steve Chang (Departments of Psychology and Neuroscience, Yale; Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, Yale School of Medicine), and ARC Lab director Jutta Joormann. Their paper reviews biologically-oriented theories about how psychological stress may contribute to the development of anhedonia. Anhedonia is a loss of pleasure and/or lack of motivation, and is common in several psychiatric disorders, including depression. The goal of the paper is to synthesize the scientific literature on stress and anhedonia, providing a partial account of what we know so far, and highlighting promising future directions. The review is available online now: https://www.cell.com/trends/neurosciences/fulltext/S0166-2236(18)30254-6

Congrats, Colin!
